Huge week in athlete representation news, here are some of the stories that made headlines:

 

 

Olympic Champion Swimmer Michael Phelps has announced his comeback to the sport, but he’ll have to find a new swimwear sponsor, as it was announced he has ended his deal with Speedo. (Michael Phelps, Speedo part ways)

In more Speedo news, US swimmer Natalie Coughlin has renewed her sponsorship with the company until 2016. (Decorated Coughlin renews long-term Speedo deal)

German Defender Jérôme Boateng has signed an endorsement deal with audio brand JBL. (Boateng gears up for World Cup with JBL endorsement)

Bubba Watson has signed an endorsement agreement with Bojangles’ Famous Chicken n’ Biscuits. The Masters champion signed the deal prior to the win, however ad started appearing this week. (Bubba Watson takes a swing at baking)

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah is suing his former shoe endorser, Le Coq Sportif. He signed a six year, $6 million deal in 2007, and claims the company owes him $1.65 million from the deal. Noah also claims the shoes contributed to his foot injuries. (Joakim Noah is suing his former shoemaker, claiming they failed to pay him and contributed to his foot injuries)

Sydney Swans prized recruit Lance Franklin was involved in an accident whilst driving his girlfriend’s Jeep. Model Jesinta Campbell has an ambassadorship with the car manufacturer, and due to the accident, this deal may now be in jeopardy. (Well, thanks a lot Buddy! Benji Marshall has done a U-Turn on his career, with the rugby player switching back to League from Union. The deal is set to cost him millions in lost salary. He was on a reported $2 million+ for 2 years with the Auckland Blues, but may have to play out the rest of this season for a salary under $100,000. Golden State Warriors Centre Andrew Bogut has partnered with watchmaker Bausele (Andrew Bogut Signs On As Bausele Ambassador).

NBA player Damian Liilard has signed a 10 year deal with Adidas, believed to be worth up to $100 million (Blazers star Lillard lands Adidas extension). Australian NBA draft prospect Dante Exum has also signed with the company.

NFL player DeSean Jackson has been ordered to pay his former agent Drew Rosenhaus over $500,000 in unpaid commissions and loans (Report: Arbitrator says DeSean Jackson owes Rosenhaus $516K).

WME has extensively detailed their plans for the newly acquired IMG, which includes reducing their costs by more than $150 million (WME outlines plan for IMG).
