David Bauman, Andrew Bogut‘s US based agent, has left Lagardere and joined Relativity Sports. He will operate as Senior Vice President of Basketball, and will report to Dan Fegan, who also came from Lagardere. Bauman had previously worked at FAME and SFX Sports.
Bauman takes with him his star client in Bogut, who recently signed a 3 year, $36 million dollar extension with the team. Bauman’s other client, Gary Neal, is currently plying his trade with the Charlotte Bobcats and has a deal through the end of next season. Bauman will still have to pay a percentage of his commission made on these contracts to Lagardere, unless a buyout was agreed. Bogut also has an Australian based agent in Bruce Kaider of One Management. Andrew bought into One in 2011 and now serves as a Director. This move by Bauman should not affect his Australian interests.
Relativity’s basketball division, run by Fagen, now represents 28 NBA players, including the likes of Dwight Howard, Ty Lawson and John Wall. Combined, the division now has nearly $600 million in contracts negotiated for the future. The company also represents talent in football and baseball.
This leaves Mitchell Butler as the number 1 basketball agent at Lagardere. He currently manages 2 NBA players in Avery Bradley and Tony Snell.
