There has been much speculation about the future of Luis Suarez. The player has spoken out previously about his desire to move from Liverpool, as he had ambition to move to a bigger club. Now it seems all is well for the Uruguayan striker, who has netted 17 goals this season. He has signed a new deal with the Merseyside club that will keep him at the club till 2018.
His previous contract had 2 and 1/2 years remaining, with his weekly salary being £120,000. In his new deal, he will be paid £170,000 for the rest of the 2013-14 season, and then his wage will rise to £200,000 per week till 2018. Presumably this figure would not include image rights and bonuses, which could net him an extra £3-4 million per year. There has also been no mention of a fee release clause, which prevented him from moving mid-year.
The news will come as a massive relief to Liverpool fans, as his performances have seen the club move into Champions League contention.
