Last month I reported that former Olympic swimmer Stephanie Rice had opted to cut ties with her management team and start representing herself. She was to be helped by mentor Mark Bouris, who hosted her on Australia’s Celebrity Apprentice. To my knowledge this is still the case.
Now she has signed up for a new deal, signing on as an Ambassador for the 2014 Inter Dominion Championship in Sydney, a flagship event on Australia’s harness racing calender. Stephanie Rice already has an interest in harness racing, owning a 10% share in a horse aptly named ‘Steffi Rice’, with earnings from the horse going towards the Melanoma Institute of Australia.
“I am most privileged to be the Ambassador for the Inter Dominion as it is an exciting time for harness racing” Stephanie Rice said.
Harness Racing NSW CEO Sam Nati is very pleased with Rice being appointed to the role, stating that her appeal to the 18-35 year old demographic is exactly where the industry needs to target. The event will also be broadcast on Channel 9.
Rice currently supports Epilepsy QLD among a host of other charitable efforts, including supporting Daffodil Day.
