It may have been David Beckham’s last full year as a footballer, but that didn’t stop him from being one of the highest paid athletes on the planet. Reports emerged today that David amassed $26 million in personal endorsement income in 2012. David currently has deals with apparel companies Adidas and H&M, supermarket chain Sainsbury’s, watchmaker Breitling and electronics manufacturer Samsung. He also has his own fragrance through Coty.
It is unclear whether these partnerships will continue being as strong now he has retired, though his iconic name will stand the test for at least the next few years.
The $26 million doesn’t include the over $4 million he made from LA Galaxy in the final year of his playing contract. David switched to French powerhouse club PSG in January, and donated his entire wage to charity. His days in football may not be over yet; he has been strongly linked to setting up his own MLS franchise, potentially in the Florida.
